Victoria Beard - ABOUT & ACHIEVEMENTS

Howdy!

My name’s Victoria Beard and I’m a visual artist based in North Texas.

After years of dabbling between education and health sciences, I *finally* pursued art and have a degree in Graphic Communications. I have always loved and had a passion for art and started my business, Fís Victoria, which is simply- “my vision” back in 2019.

I enjoy mixing Western and Hispanic heritage themes and anatomy together, which many say is my aesthetic. I also do abstract, fundraising collections, tattoo ideas, and my own personal concept, Fís Ceoils. Fís Ceoil is Irish Gaelic for "Musical Vision". Music and my culture have a huge influence in my art.

With graphic design, I work with Lil' Texas Shoppe, and in the future and on the side, I’d love to work in the music industry designing albums or posters. I'm also interested in designing for sports or alcohol industries- in short, somewhere where fun creativity is a must. I love placing my designs on shirts, engraving in leather, koozies, and just about anything I can think of.

I love depicting my crazy imagination within my art and even have a few trademarks I always try to subtly include. I’m up for any challenge and love working with others to create a one of a kind unique vision and make it a reality. In my free time, I love to listen to music- mostly country, indie, and folk-, cook, and be active by playing sports, dancing, or just spending time in nature.

I’m currently open for commissions and having my art and products at events all around North Texas.

Maravilla Unida

Artist Statement 2024:

“Maravilla Unida” is a mixed media piece on canvas. The theme for this event was “the art of living together” and I took the approach of embracing culture. I wanted to depict my culture. I come from a mixed race household, half Mexican, half white and have lived in Plano all my life. I love being somewhere where I can see my culture flourish and have the best of both worlds. Being surrounded by the language, different music, traditions, and food, which is how I got the title, “Maravilla Unida”, which translates to United Wonder. With “wonder”, I was thinking of my surroundings. When I think Texas, I think westerns. I love western art and incorporating Hispanic heritage. While I don’t spend much time in the city, there was an idea and feeling I wanted to capture. There’s this sense of wonder and beauty in Dallas at night with all the lights and tall buildings that gives this vivid sense of life. Maravilla Unida has that blend of city life and western inspiration along with the incorporation of vibrancy and powerful storytelling. Skeletons, Catrinas, and faded figures tells and celebrates the past, our culture, and where we come together.
